Office in Malta have a big heart for the less fortunate. This is ingrained in the Maltese tradition going back centuries of helping one another.A recently published survey by the UK-based Charities Aid Foundation shows that the Maltese are the most generous in the world when it comes to donating money. 83 % of the people had donated money to charity in the previous month. The country was subject to many years of attack so the country had to stick together to get through it with our identity intact.
Swim Aid 2015 aims at collecting funds for the newly set-up Silver Lining Swimming Club; with the intention of introducing people with physical disabilities to the world of swimming. This year’s challenge will see a team of swimmers challenge the waters between Marsalforn, Gozo and Sliema pitch, Malta.
A 30km open-water swim to help encourage people to win over their physical challenges and take up the sport of swimming!
Sports are so healthy for people to remain fit physically and mentally. What a great cause to help the less fortunate !
Record breaking 3.6 million Euros were collected at this annual Charity event organised by the President of Malta. With a population of approximately 500,000 people that is an average of 7.50 euros per person that is why they say the Maltese are so generous.
The event is organised during Christmas time to help the less fortunate. The money is distributed to more then 7 different major charities on the island especially id-Dar Tal-Providenza.
Having done voluntary work for nearly 1 month with priests from Malta and Gozo who have developed 7 parishes and communities in the last 10 years in this impoverished mountain region. We have witnessed first hand the suffering of the locals who have no money, health care system, houses and even families. Ravished with sickness and poor health kids are abandoned by their parents who are in prison or died of poor health. Father Giovanni has done a marvelous job setting up a local community service whereby kids attend school, housing is available for all, the Church community is alive full of hope when there is none. Everyone is fed and free medicine is provided. Donations here go straight to were it is needed.
